Milford Community Hospital - diagnostic centre.
From the Godalming and Ash Chronicle - Summer Edtion
Milford Hospital Diagnostic centre enables the hospital to carry out X-Rays, CT scans, Blood tests and more so residents of surrey have access to the best healthcare on their doorstep.
The new one-stop shops will run checks, scans and test and will help to achive:
earlier diagnoses for patents through easier, faster and more direct access to the full range of diagnostic tests needed to understand patents symptoms including breathlessness, cancer, ophthalmology.
a reduction in hospital visits which will help to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission
a reduction in waits by diverting patents away from hospitals, allowing them to treat urgent patents, while the community diagnostic centre focus on tackling the backlog.
a contribution to the NHS’s net zero ambitions by providing multiple tests in one visit, reducing the number of patent visits and helping to cut carbon emissions and air pollution. GPs will be able to refer patients to the hospital.
The centres will begin providing services over the next 6 months. They will be fully operational by March 2022
It was announced that Milford Community Hospital will be one of the 40 new diagnostic centres.
X-Ray Update
January 2023 - An ultra sound and Echo unit will be situated within the X-Ray unit. Over the next 2 years there will be a new large building in the Milford hospital grounds fo one CT scanner and two MRI scanner units.
May 2022 The Building work has now finished and the ceiling has been lowered.
The RSCH has asked us to put the following information on our website:
Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust has recently received some national funding to support the refurbishment of our x ray service at Milford Hospital. To enable this work to take place the X ray unit will be closed from the 1st December 2021, the works are expected to take approximately 16 weeks and we will confirm a reopening date in due course.
Please be assured patients will be accommodated for X ray requirements at any of our other sites at Haselmere, Cranleigh or the Royal Surrey. We will continue to accommodate walk-in attendances for chest x-rays and booked appointments for all other x-rays.
Apologies for any inconvenience this causes to patients during the works.
New Cancer and Pain Clinic
Jeremy Hunt will launch a fundraising campaign to support the build of the new Cancer and Surgical Innovation Centre. This will dramatically improve patient experience, flow and capacity of our theatres, so that thousands more patients are able to receive essential surgical treatment every year.
January 2023 - we believe £5 Million will be available to Milford Hospital
The plans for the build are ambitious – the new facility will be designed for the highest quality patient experience and will support modern pathways of care for both a high volume of cancer surgery as well as benign specialties such as Trauma and Orthopaedics and Ophthalmology. Not only will they deliver world-class surgery and peri-operative care, the new centre will include an institute for research, training and education for the next generation of surgical specialists.
The project will involve:
· A full redesign of Royal Surrey’s theatre capacity;
· New spaces for patients to prepare, rest and recover from surgery;
· New equipment and technology;
· New theatres to increase capacity;
· And much more.
Clinical services that will use the new centre include: General surgery, Colorectal, Hepatobiliary, Oesophagogastric, Breast, Skin, Trauma and orthopaedics, Urology, Gynae-oncology, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, ENT, Maxillofacial, Pain, Cardiology and Interventional Radiology.
With sufficient funding in place, work on the centre is expected to begin in 2022.
